Trunking monitoring trouble with PSR500 and Butel Software
I recently purchased a PSR-500 and the ARC500 software to replace my Radio Shack PRO-51.
I am having problems getting this scanner to monitor trunked systems. I am not having any troubles at all scanning the conventional channels that I downloaded from Radio Reference. My difficult is with the trunked channels I download from Radio Reference. The trunk data shows up in the Object Browers tab under Truck System Objects and then Trunk Systems.
I download three systems:
City of Parkersburg, WV, type LTR standard
West Virginia Interoperability Radio Project (WVIRP), type Project 25 Standard
State of Ohio MARCS - Multi-Agency Radio Communications, type Motorola Type II SmartZone Omnilink
I placed the City of Parkersburg in scan list 05, WVIRP in scan list 06 and Ohio MARCS in scan list 09.
I loaded all 21 channels for Parkersburg, 136 channels for WVIRP and 143 channels for OH MARCS.
I tried loading the data a second time, still no luck.
And I have yet to see the capital T icon in the display that indicates the scanner is currently receiving trunking control channel data.
The CPU and DSP versions for the PSR-500 are listed below:
uP Appl Ver:U1.6
DSP App Ver: U1.3
DSP Voc Ver: F1.0
I believe that the above are the latest versions.
I, hopefully, have attached the Butel software file of my PSR-500 set up.
Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated.

I am not sure of where to find ID search/ID scan mode.
Below I have listed some settings under Global:
Global Atteu: Off
TGRP Pri Int: On
SRCH Dig AGC: On
SRCH SuprTrk: On
Dype Checks SQ: Yes
TGID Format: DEC I have also tried Norm; no difference.
TGRP Ignore: No
ShowCCInfo: Yes
I got to these my pressing PGM button on keypad then F3 (Global) softkey.
I thought that I had attached a copy of the programming file from the ACR500 software for review.

Wayne,
The file did not attach. But I can't attest for the city LTR system because the scanner should have set LCN. However, The scanner will only hold 32 frequencies per TSYS so it is very likely you have frequencies for both WVInop and MARCS which are not near your location, thus, no control frequency for decoding data.
Re-do the import and select only those towers near your location for import.

I did not know about the 32 frequencies per TSYS!
I did as you suggested and reloaded all three after clearing out all the previous data.
I have a total 3 Trunk Systems: LTR City of Parkersb
MOT VHF/UHF West Virginia In MOT 800/900 State of Ohio MA
I have a total of 50 Talkgroup: 21 Parkersburg
11 WV
18 OH MARCS
I am wondering if the MOT VHF/UHF West Virginia should be changed to P25 Auto.
The MOT VHF/UHF West Virginia is what was downloaded from Radio Reference.
When I double click on the frequency block in TSYS there are 5 Freqs for Parkersburg, 9 Freqs for WV and 11 Freqs for OH.
Eureka! As I am preparing this reply, I am picking up Ohio Highway Patrol Post 84 out of Washington County.
Still nothing on Parkersburg or WV.

Yes, WV needs to be set to P25 Auto

Still no luck picking up any signal from West Virginia Interoperability Radio Project (WVIRP).
How do you remove blank lines in ACR500 software, under Object Browser tab, Trunked Systems Objects fold, Trunk Systems (TSYS)?
I have data in line 4, 5 and 6 but would like to delete the empty lines 1, 2 and 3, which have no data.
I have tried under the main menu Options, Remove Empty Line but this did not work.
Thanks,
Wayne

Do you hear a CC at all?

Highlight all TSYS below 1, 2 & 3. Then right click in the highlight area and select Cut, then paste in Line 1. To just remove a line, right click on it and select Cut.

No I do not hear a CC. The scan list I have the WVIRP assigned to is quiet. I figured that I would here something this afternoon since I have the WV Department of Transportation loaded. I only have 11 frequencies so I just put them all in one scan list.
I selected lines 4, 5 and 6, Cut them and pasted them to lines 1, 2 and 3 with no problems, I thought. When I doubled clicked on the Frequency tab, the list came up black in all 3 of my Trucked System (TSYS).

Frank,
I still have all of my previous data since when ever I make a change, I save the new set up under a new file name. This way I can always go back to a previous set up without any trouble.
I have looked through the ACR500 software manual but fine this manual to be lacking in may areas.
I am still clueless about the WVIRP set up not working. I am looking through the Grecom PSR-500 manual.

Wayne,
Parkersburg (Wood county) site is not active yet. You will need to go on a trip Wheeling, Charleston or Harrison County to pick up a control frequency.
In the meantime, go back to your saved file and ignore WV state system until you travel, then make sure you enter controls of the area you plan to travel. Set a Wildcard object in the mapped list for WV talkgroups to pick up any traffic when you do travel.
I travel through WV (both directions) on I-64 at least once a year and have been involved in early stages of the system since 2004/5 time frame.
You should subscribe to the WV statewide forum to keep up to date on what and when you area is coming on line. Fact is, you are in a great location to determine when the controls become active.
