Default FreeSCAN, Vista and 246T

I have installed FreeSCAN on Vista to work with my 246T. Unfortunately, I am having some issues:

1. I got a usb serial connector and set it up for COM8.
2. I set the scanner and the port to the same baud rate 57K.
3. When I try to enter control mode for the scanner from the software, FreeSCAN exits.
4. If I try to goto the download section, to download the program from the scanner and hit the Query button, I get run time error 8020.

What am I doing wrong? Please advise.

Thanks.
Jack

Post this on the FreeScan forum - Assaf (the author) is there more than he is over here. You can get to the forums on the same website as you got the software.
