Default Win500 Remote Monitoring

Hi,
I have a Pro-106 scanner and I am currently using the Win500 Remote Monitoring software, which is great so far. I want to know how I can listen to it when I am not home, for example, when I am on a trip. Also, how would I be able to power the scanner while I am gone. Would I need to leave my computer running, and if so, how would I make sure it doesn't go to sleep. Is it safe to put a power cord on the scanner?

Also, while scanning on Win500 Remote Monitoring, I am connected to localhost, port 8086. No one can hear my scanner while I am connected to this, right?
Thanks!
