Question Win500 Web import problem & saving it error!

Hello,

I have a problem doing a save or a save as,after doing a Web import.
So I can't backup my files if one becomes corrupt! it's always after doing a RR Web import. All new data is downloaded fine, it's just after saving the problem starts when I try to reopen the file.

Not sure if its Win500? Or importing from RR that corrupts the file?

I get this error every time I save as after updating the new file can't be opened. Why is that? Even a save, after doing a RR download to scanner the file is unusable or damaged!

So I uploaded from the scanner and was able to make a new file with no loss of data.

But next time I do a update with Win500 and the RR database
my file is no longer useable. Why? .It's like a bug in the software, but never got these errors until I became a Premium subscriber, odd!

Any help would be much appreciated. Don?

I'm a little confused.
1. Web Import. You load to software from Web Import and when using Save or Save as in Files menu it corrupts? Do you mean the program locks up?

2. Download from scanner then select from files either Save or Save as in Files menu it corrupts? Do you mean the program locks up?

3. You send an edited file to scanner, the scanner us unusable with this file?

The three scenarios are unrelated.

Receiving (download) from scanner is an operation which opens to a new template when complete and becomes your backup when you give it a name using Files > Save or Save as.

Receiving data using Files > Web Import is a newly created file when complete and can be sent to scanner using Upload to scanner with or without saving. However, I usually save it via Files Save and provide a new name for future use, this could be a backup for that purpose. This newly created file can be used again with Web Import to add additional data for sending to scanner. All one needs to do with this file is Files > Save, however, it could get a new name using Files > Save as and provide a new name.

Hello Frank,

No lock ups of any kind, everything is fine with Win500 &
web import works with no problems.

It's when I save the file,or save as
the file after is corrupt or damaged if I try to open it!
That's the main problem.

Sorry I was not too clear on that.In short after the web import is done and saved if I go back to it,I can't open it! Say's corrupt or damaged unable to open "would you like to open in a blank template?"

So that's my problem,no lock ups of any kind. It's after I close Win500 and try open the file that was just updated from RR data base it is always corrupt or damaged!

Never had this problem before Web imports and tested 7 files
that never had web imports and they all opened without error.

Tested 3 with web imports and there all corrupt or damaged! Beats me!

Thanks

Download 1.72 again, all you will need is the Win500.exe and the WinxxCommoin.dll. Over write in the download.

OK, I did as you said, but still getting the box pop-up!

Uable to open file:

"Do you wish to run Win500 with a new, blank file?"

Funny, all files that had no Web Import work, and the ones with Web Imports gives the above pop-up!
I have been at it for weeks and it's got me beat! I have tried everything possible, but can't find the problem
or a fix.

Thanks

Hello AlabamaRS,

Yes, I have checked everything above and much more.Never had this problem with damaged files. It was only after I started doing Web Imports. They work great! Win500 works great! But when I go to open that new saved file I can't. It is corrupt and Win500 can't open it.

I am on try six of doing my city imports from the RR Database,so far so good!

It could have been Frank's fix that did it? "Replace Win500.exe and the WinxxCommoin.dll. Over write in the download"

And for those other five corrupt files are beyond repair for some unknown reason?
If this new file becomes corrupt like the others I'll send them to Don,just hope it does not. There
must be a reason why they are damaged? But only the software programmer can tell me for sure.

Don must be Santa! He has not been around too much!

Thanks

I've seen the "would you like to open in a blank template?" message too when doing a double-click on a file hoping to have it open in Win500. I resolved the issue by going to the Configuration tab in Win500, selecting Misc... and then hitting the P500 File Associate button. HTH

Hello TES,

Glad it worked for you! That is one of the first things I check when over writing new versions
and check the correct USB port.

It's been weeks I have really tried everything possible,I think?

On try six, file seems fine so far.Saved it many times and opens now with no errors!
But if it does become corrupt,I'll send it to Don and see what he has to say.

I have five .p500 files of my city that can't be opened still. Noticed the problem first when doing Web imports, before that never had a problem with damaged files. Really hard to say what was the cause?

Things are looking up! On this new file No.6! It opens and have been saving for a day without error!

Thanks

He's been in the Win500 Sticky and apparently missed this thread. We should have suggested that you place this in the Sticky.

You can either zip the corrupt file or edit and change it after .p500 to .p500.txt and attach here in this thread for a look. However, if it appears to be working, I would just delete and carry on.

The errors of new files seems to have stopped after you told me to:

So I did try a few hours later after doing so, and no errors or damaged files so far,but the 5 first web
import files from the RR database, can't be opened.I did attach one if anybody can tell how it became corrupt? Would be great!

But I am just glad it's working again after two weeks of errors of damaged files it's time to move on!

Thanks for your help Frank and everybody. Happy Holiday's!

Larry

The file was created using v 1.68, why it would not open is beyond me. Anyway, hope you are doing ok now.

Sorry the first file is damaged, but not after doing a Web Import. The problem file is attached below
if Don wants to take a look? Or anybody else.

Frank all is good at the moment! It is like these files have a time code and seem to expire after time! I can't explain why this happens? Just happy it seems to be working, but for how long? Seems most files with v 1.68 are damaged. My computer works 100% no bugs, virus, trojan, etc
it's clean! But there is something causing my files to become corrupt.

Thanks
