Exclamation Why does Win 500 "Endtone Threshold" defaults to 80 after a reset?

Hi,

If you open up a Win 500 file, load up a file, and then click on the "Extended Settings" tab you will see a box labeled Motorola Trunking. It will have three settings in it "Subaudible start delay", "Endtone pattern", and "Endtone threshhold".

*The setting that is named "Endtone Threshhold" should read a value of "250" by default.

Now, lets leave what i just said for a moment and now move over to a retangular box titled "Important", (over to the lower right side of the page).

It reads as follows;

IMPORTANT
Some settings on this page can have detrimental effects on
the radio's performance if set "badly".

Click this button to reset all settings on this page to default
values.

OK, so i clicked the button (which is the actual box the words are written in), and under the Motorola setting of "Endtone Threshhold", the number changed from 250 to 80 which i do not feel is the right number. Is there a purpose why the Win 500 program changes the default of 250, so that it defaults as 80??

The default was changed to 80 in firmware 1.2 in the PSR-500. The PRO-106 should already have 80 as the firmware default since it was only recently released. Below is the text from the firmware 1.2 release notes.

Changed default "EndtoneMot" value from 250 to 80. The value 80 is used
to correct squelch tails at the end of voice transmissions on narrowband
EDACS systems

Oh, so older Win 500 files (made before firmware 1.2) will have the setting at 250. Well, this is something to keep in mind!
