Butel Software/No Activity In Windows Vista 32Bit 396T
I have the software installed/registered, and USB1 driver for Vista installed. When I start the software, and bring up the Virtual Scanner window, it is not working in the window of the scanner on my computer. The volume & sq goes up, with no effect . There is no scanning of any kind in the virtual window. Does anyone know what I need to do to fix this. It works great on my xp laptop, but not my laptop with vista premium 32 bit. Please help..
Harold

I had figured out the software set up for Vista 64 but cannot get the usb to serial to work. Even bought a prolific cable and software and still no luck. Do you have any suggestions for this?

I also am having problems with Arc396pro software running Vista Premium x64 on my HP Pavilion DV7 Notebook.
The ARC396PRO Program is making my computer crash all the time, I sent a message last year telling Butel about this problem but I thought it was the driver on my USB Serial adapter, but since then I have been using BCTOOL freeware program with my 396 scanner and have no issues with crashes, only when I start using ARC396PRO software does my computer crash..
I will be happy to cooperate with Butel to do some testing if they get in touch with me

Sometimes 32-bit software gets confused by 64-bit processors. Not being familiar with Vista, you may want to try running it in compatibility mode for XP...

I doubt that a regular program (like ARC) is crashing Vista. OTOH, a driver (like for a USB to serial adapter for example) can bring down the OS without working up a sweat.
I could make a copy of 246TBatt that would crash Vista. Well, no, your USB to serial adapter's driver would do the actual crashing.

Oh Vista, sweet M$ Vista...
Sorry to hear of your problems Speedster. But Vista does suck.
Have you thought of 'downgrading' to Windows XP on your notebook? Might solve a bunch of problems.
I'm mostly Macintosh & bought a relatively cheap ASUS netbook to run my scanner software. Works great but the screen/keyboard are a bit small. I can also run all by Butel software on my Apple MacBook using VMWare> Windows XP.

I run Uniden's software, and BCTOOL and freescan and the computer does not crash but when I use ARC396PRO is when I see the crashing, I just changed the compatibility mode to run the ARC396PRO Software in Windows xp Service pack 2 like Bezking suggested and the 396 and Arc396pro ran all night without crashing. I hope this has fixed the problem, I will keep testing to see if this fixed the problem.
