Default Interface cable help

I can't get my interface cable to recognize my scanner. I have been running it on com 4, now all I can pick up is com 1 and it will not work on that one. Is there anyone out there that has ran into this? I appreciate any help you could give me.

Thanks,

Shakey

Are you using a COM version cable or a USB cable? If you are using a COM version cable, what happened to COM4? If you are using a USB version cable, why can't you set your software to COM1 where the cable currently is?

COM issues can be complex and depend on your system. Older systems used COM ports for mice and internal modems among other things. If you have a serial mouse or modem, those devices could be interfering with a COM version cable.
