I wish. First, I tried Don's fix (several times), fix # 1 didn't do a thing for me and fix # 2 isn't anything like what shows up on my Dell 610 windows XP screen. I tried to open the help file included in with the win97 folder and it won't open so I dropped it into my office program and it opened up to a page of what looks like hieroglyphics, but I'm not a programmer so I can't translate that stuff.

The file is listed in WindowsExplorer as 'compiled HTML'. When I click on it, it opens as a help file. Some web browsers should be able to open the file as well.

Why can't a simple help page be a jpeg or plain text or rich text?

JPEG? That's ridiculous. There are different file formats to do different things. Use JPEG for pictures, WAV or MP3 for audio, TXT for plain text, ..., etc. PDF could work but then you would need Acrobat (or equiv) installed. The file format used should open up if your computer is working correctly.

LOL. I remember when I started doing computer consulting many years ago. People told me they couldn't use their computers because they did not know how they worked. So I would start asking them questions about auto mechanics and internal combustion engines. That usually got a blank stare in return. I then asked if they drove a car, to which they replied yes. It was apparent they were not auto mechanics .... so why do people need to know how computers work in order to drive them. After thinking about this for a bit; I guess it is because we have to get licenses to drive autos, but not computers. In this case it just means you are not opening the file with the correct application software.
