What program do i need to program my BCT15 scanner?
bought a Uniden BCT15 last week and im looking for a program to download so i can program this scanner via computer. I bought the "Uniden Advanced Scanner Director DEMO software for BCT15 - Software Key - Upgrade to Full Version (delivered via email). Is this the full program? and is this all i need to have to program my scanner. It seems like a royal PITA to do this. I bought it last week and according to it, it says it would be delivered via e mail. i got the e mail with the registration key and the link to download, but with no link. So i checked the status of the program and it said it was shipped on 4/27/09, but i thought it was only delivered via e mail, so this is where im confused as all hell.
did i do something wrong and order the wrong thing? let me know what i need to do
i need help lol.

the bctool seems interesting. I quickly tryed it out before i went to work tonight. i downloaded the program. and i turn my bct15 on via L/o+6 and click on find scanner, but it couldnt find it. I bought the USB drive for the scanner to computer and downloaded the drivers before i hooked the scanner onto the computer, so i figured it would work. is there a way on the computer to see if it recognizes the scanner. I would of thought that when i finally hook it up the computer would of said something like new hardware found. When i get out of work this morning im going to look into it more because i ll finally have time to do it. If theres any old threads on how to use the bctool prog that would be helpful, although it doesnt seem too hard to understand.

OK You are getting this all wrong. You asked in the first post here what software you needed to program your scanner and WouffHong suggested BCTool. That is programming software, for loading frequencies, talk groups and the like. BCVUP is updating software for updating firmware. Only do the L/O+6 when the BCVUP asks you to do it to get the scanner into update mode. If you want to use BCTool, or any other software to program your scanner, just turn in on normally. Then try to get the software to detect it.
Did you install the drivers for the USB-Serial converter before you plugged it in or just before you connected the scanner?

AND the "What program do I need to to program my BCT15 scanner" is the question I was responding to. -- If you meant UPDATING your scanner, I may have led you astray, but the program is durn good. Keep it and try it when you finish the updating.. Tom

BCT programming software
I have just the thing for you! I bought the same scanner just about a month ago. im 200% satified! but I then purchased programming software from Butel (Arc15 pro) Unidens software is far inferior! I tried the demo and its not only confusing but has too many screens to manage! im not a PC novice either. after purchasing the Arcpro software from Butel, im 1000% satisfied with my scanner. the software is feature packed and to top it off it syncs seemlessly with Radio Reference .com! what does that mean to me? is what your asking. It means that you never have to manually create a system! the sofware does it all for you! all youhave to do is start the software open the window that automatically logs you into radioreference.com and choose which system you want in your scanner! its that simple. One thing though! you have to pay Radioreference 15 or 30 dollars for a 180 day subscription or a 365 day subscription. small price to pay if you know how Great a site radioreference is.
I bought my scanner (BCT15) from scannermaster.com they are great people! and you can talk to them live! their customer service is excellent! and shipping is super fast. well i onlylive in NYC and they are located in mass. so I get everything the next day. I bought my scanner, my roof top antenna, and my arc15pro software all from them! im telling you, get the butel software! its good stuff and the software updates are free and easy to get from their site. butelsoftware.com
I hope this helps

go to settings and then scanner info and then firmware version. you need to have version 1.06.00 on your scanner.
