Belkin USB to Serial and ARC396 Problems

Anybody have a problem with using a Belkin USB to serial converter and ARC396 software? Every time I try to read the scanner with ARC396, the computer reboots. I've reloaded the computer, loaded new drivers, etc. When I use a Sabrent USB to serial, everything is fine. Just wondered if anyone else has encountered problems with the Belkin USB to serial converters?

I think I got it working now, changed COM ports.

Do you have sync software running for an iPOD, Cell/iPhone, Blackberry or camera on your computer? That is the number one thing to check when you start having problems with serial ports. Often the devices will have programs that monitor the comports for a connection from a device. In windows go to the Start menu, select run type
msconfig
in the box and press the enter key. Go to Startup section in msconfig to see a list of available programs that are run when you boot or login to your computer.

Itunes software and also Microsoft Active Sync may have been the problem. Seems to be working now on COM2.
