The big 3 are ARC500, PSRedit500 and Win500 - all linked from this page, and all 3 of these are web service compatible...

Object Oriented Scanner Software - The RadioReference Wiki

I don't own the object oriented scanners, so I'll leave it to others to comment on 'ease of use'. You might even be better off going to the Missouri forum and asking for files - and if you do, be sure to specify which software you are using. 73 Mike

I personally have Win500 and the programming cable from Radio Shack for my Pro-197 and could not have programed the scanner without them.

My suggestion in this instance would be to reset the global data to defaults and see if that resolves the issue.

There's three ways to do this. (Before doing any of these, I suggest making a backup of your config to a V-Scanner)

Option 1: Software

I know that my PSREdit500 can reset all of the global settings to default, and I'm sure that WIN500 can as well... I don't know about the others.

Option 2: Reset individual settings:

Press PGM, FUNC, F3 to get into the Expert settings menu.

For each menu option, press the F3 (Dflt) option.

This will reset the expert settings to their defaults without losing any custom settings like LED colors, WX SAME settings, Scanlist names and Welcome Text.

Option 3: Full GLOB reset

Turn the scanner off
Turn the scanner on
While the Welcome Text is on the screen, press the number 0, then the number 2, and then the ENT key.

This will reset the GLOB EEPROM to defaults.

Note: you will lose any custom settings you may have set, including Weather settings, LED colors, Scanlist names, and Welcome text.

Looks like most sites will be ok, but a couple won't once the reband is complete. The Tulsa site should be ok though.

I don't know if this is the answer, but I had something simular happen when I using a different programming software and a PSR-400. I would try to program the scanner and it said that the data was being transferred and when it was complete it said to remove the cable, but nothing was transferred. I discovered that the usb drivers were not loaded on my computer. Once, I reloaded the usb drivers, then everything worked normally. Just a suggestion.

You need to check & make sure the program comport is set to the same 1 as windows shows the cable on.

And make double sure you have the new drivers Paul lists on his web site for the cable.
