Default No RR Connection with Updated Butel

I own Butel 396Pro/996Pro, Arc500 and Arc-XT.

ALL of the programs have been de-installed and the latest (according to the Butel site note) downloaded and re-installed.

Arc-XT works perfectly on either of my laptops (1 runs Vista, the other XP).

All of the other programs give me RadioRefDisconnected.

Is anyone else seeing this? I've tried to read everything about the database upgrade and at Butel before posting. Are these programs working for everyone else? Again Arc-XT works fine and I'm not sure it ever stopped working.

Best,
Mark

ARC500 NOT working. There is no update posted at either Scanner Master or BuTel. The version both have posted is 1.12 Build 6 full version which is from March - even though SM lists as a new version.

ARC250 update working.

Thanks for the confirmation. I'm sure it will be sorted out.

The part that confused me is the note yesterday on Butel site acknowledging the RR database change and saying to download the latest.

Anyway - I'm sure this will be corrected. ...just wanted to be sure it wasn't something on my end

It may be a while unfortunately. We are in the EU holiday period. I sent a message to BuTel this morning via their web site; they are on holidys until August 14th according to their website. I'm a bit dismayed as the GRE/RS scanners supported by ARC500 seem to represent a good portion of the digital trunk scanners currently on the market. As an engineer for 30 years, my expectation is that the ARC500 version posted would have been verified.

Hopefully someone will be able to correct before mid-August.

Arrow ARC996 & XT on XP are OK, not on Vista

My updated ARC software seems to be working OK (except ARC500) on my XP machine, but has problems on my Vista machine.

On XP macchine:
ARC996 V3.1 build 1 sees scanner and connects to RR correctly.
ARCXT V1.1 build 3 sees scanner and connects to RR corectly.
ARC500 V1.12 build 6 sees scanner and does not connect to RR. (Although I can download and upload to the scanner OK, the virtual control does not seem to work correctly)

On Vista machine:
ARC996 V3.1 build 1 does not see scanner and does connect to RR OK.
ARCXT V1.1 build 3 does not see scanner and does connect to RR OK.
ARC500 V1.12 build 6 - Have not checked on Vista machine.

I'm using WIN500 software and can't perform a web import from RR. Here's the error message I get:

XML error detected: no element found

near:

^

while requesting URL:
http://www.radioreference.com/apps/xml1.1/?ol=1

Again, . . I'm using WIN500, . . . . not ARC500

I'm running it on Vista w/o trouble.

1) Did you download the USB drivers (if you're using a USB cord to the scanner).

2) Did you follow these instructions from Butel?

All ARC software under Vista must be installed and run with full administrative rights.

Instructions for setting Vista administrative rights:

- install the software
- do not start the software yet!
- click 'Computer' on your desktop
- in the 'Folder' section click on 'C:'
- locate the software installation folder ( usually program files/butel/ )
- right click on the program file (ARC icon) and select properties.
- select 'compatibility' tab
- locate the option 'run as administrator' and tick that option.
- confirm by clicking ok.
- you can now start the program

The following software packages have been tested under Vista and work ok but are not offcially supported under Vista:

ARC2 for Icom IC-R2
ARC3 for Icom IC-R3
ARC780 for Uniden (U)BC780XLT
ARC5000 for AOR AR5000 series
ARC8200 for AOR AR8200 series
ARC8600 for AOR AR8600 series

To use these software packages you need either Windows 98/ME/NT/2000 or XP. The use of the above packages with Vista is the users risk.
All other ARC software packages should work fine under Vista since our development software is fully supported by Microsoft under Vista. If you use ARC Virtual Control you need to install this Vista patch 932406 to avoid screen problems.

The USB driver is avail from Scanner Master Uniden USB Cable

Chuck,
You can connect to RR with ARC500? I cannot - and the RR site says "ARC500 is broken".

What is your secret? I have Vista 64-bit and never had a previous problem with 500.

When I updated ARC15, it connects to RR

I have ARC-XT with a BCD396XT.

I can connect to RR with ARC-XT version 1.1 build 3. But this version will not upload to my scanner. I have to drop back to version 1.1 build 1 to do an upload.

EDIT: the upload problem with build 3 appears to effect trunk systems with custom band plans (maybe more but this is what I noticed).

Thanks for your input, but I am aware of all of the above suggestions/ recommendations. All the Butel software I listed had been working without problems, on both XP and Vista, prior to installing the latest Butel software updates. That was the basis for my previous conclusions.

However, I just went back and reinstalled the Vista usb driver again and both ARC996 and ARCXT are now working fine with Vista. I probably should have done that before.

Xp continues to work ok with both ARC996 and ARCXT.

Do you have the new "RRLib.dll" in your Win500 folder. The new RR SOAP also requires version 1.83 or newer.

I updated ARC XT with no problem. I downloaded ARC15 and ARC500, installed the new versions and when I try to connect to RR, both programs freeze. I can't even download the new versions of ARC996 and ARC396 as a blank page loads in my browser, but the download will not start.
