Default ARC-XT Won't Connect

I am trying the demo version of this software but it can't find my BCD996XT. The other programs connect just fine.

Yes, I checked the Com ports right off the bat. Freescan connects just fine.

Have you hooked the Uniden cable it to a serial port on your computer and your scanner? Did you do an serial port autodetect in ARC?

I have the Uniden cable connected to a USB to serial port, and yes ARC sees the port there but it tells me it can't find an XT radio.

Are you using the Uniden USB/Serial adapter cable (USB-1)?

If you are, you have to use the drivers from Uniden. There are more recent drivers that work with other software packages, but only the Undien drivers work with ARC-XT.

No, I'm using the serial cable that came with it. I have it running through a serial to USB converter.

If the cable uses a prolific USB chipset you need to install this driver: Uniden USB Cable

Once ARC finds your serial port with the auto detect and you have cable plugged propertly plugged into your scanner then go to the ARC tool bar and click on "Scanner" then click on "Virtual Control" on the drop down tool bar. You should see an image of the front of your scanner on your computer screen.

If that doesn't work try the same thing connecting your cable from your scanner to a PC with an actual serial port. It that doesn't work I would do a memory clear and try the above procedure again. If that still doesn't work that I would suspect that your USB driver could be the problem.
