Default Win96 key location

The computer I had Win96 installed on with a properly purchased key had a major system failure which required it to be repaired by a PC repair friend of mine. He was able to recover the contents of the hard drive and keep it as a folder on the desktop. The problem is, now when I try to run the program it says I need to enter a key again.

My question is, where in the registry would this key be stored? I have the registry from before the failure but I just don't know where to look to find the key. Unfortunately I purchased it long enough ago that I cannot find where I stored a copy of it.
