Question Odd thing happening with ARCXT Pro

After hours of working with the software, I have come accross something very odd. I have several systems in the software. I saved them. Then I created a profile and assigned the various systems to the profile. I then save the profile. When I close the profile, I am prompted if I want to save the "new" profile... didnt I just save it? So I click 'yes'. When I reopen ARCXT Pro, and open the profile, two of the systems no longer show. When I edit the profile, I look at what system files are part of the profile and the system file that corresponds to the missing system in the profile is there, but a different system file is missing. I then have to redownload the system from RR and go through the save process again. Ok, so I must be doing something wrong....

I am using Windows XP Pro with Serice Pack 3, and I am using ARCXT Pro version 1.2 build 2 (purchased version).

Has anyone else had this happen ? Thanks

There no reason to redownload since the software saved the files, open the profile and then you can simply add the existing system files ( File _ Open System) and save the profile again.

When I am in the ARCXT Pro software and I delete a system, why isnt the .rsf file deleted? In my opinon, deleting the rsf file would make it easier when creating profiles.

Because the system file can exist in multiple profiles it will not be deleted.
Delete will only delete it from the system browser in ARC-XT.

Actually, IMHO, this is one of the areas where ARC is better than bcTool and FreeSCAN. Don't get me wrong, because I am a lover of bcTool and FreeSCAN, but ARC is the only one among the three that allows you to save systems seperately. I like the ability of being able to load, unload, and swap systems in and out of my profile. I find it especially useful for travel, which enables me to load systems already maintained on my hard drive depending on where I am going, and then not have to be burdened with them when I'm not traveling. Sure it's easy to have multiple profiles similar to the GRE "V Folder", but the problem with that is when you make changes to a system, you have to load every stored profile and make those changes. In ARC since the same system can exist in multiple profiles (as already mentioned by Gommert), you only have to make the change to the single stored system, and it will affect all profiles that use that system.
