Latest News
20/09/2010 - bcTool+ Released!
bcTool+ has been released. This is a complete ground-up rewrite of bcTool which
brings support for
all of Uniden's latest models, massive improvements to performance, speed,
stability and usability
over original bcTool. Be aware that this release is very new and may have
glitches and if you find
anything unusual please just let me know!
Please also note that this website is now quite out of date - screenshots are
for the old version,
and although the look and feel are not significantly different, it is not
identical. The site and
documentation will be updated over the next few days.
Works with all DMA-based Uniden Bearcat scanners, including the BC246T, SC230,
BR330T, UBC3500XLT,
BCT15, BCD396T, UBC800XLT and BCD996T - all using one free application!
Latest Release: 2.0 (20th of September, 2010)

RR Import (bctool)
Bctool still has a couple of glitches when it come to the RR Import Feature but this will be fixed soon.

There was also a bug with virtual control connection for the 346/396XT, which has been mostly fixed. I say that because although it works fine with my desktop, my laptop still won't connect to my 396XT. I've sent Rob a debugging file and expect that he'll come up with a solution in a day or so.
I'm glad to see BCTool back with a new version.

Once the RR import glitch is fixed, this wiki article can be updated...
RadioReference.com Web Service - The RadioReference Wiki
I must admit I was one of those that doubted it was going to happen. A lot of times when folks say they're going to rewrite something, it ends up never being done. I'm happy to say I was wrong. Way to go Rob.

BC Tools V2.00.588 - TSYS QK's not imported
One bug I saw with this version uploading the programmation from a BCD996T:
All Quick Keys from the "trunked systems" are not imported while "conventional systems" are being imported fine.
In the preview pan, I see "-1" beside the systems ...
Anyone else has that bug ??

I'm not on this particular group, but I'll bet Rob is paying attention to the Yahoo group and Twitter for bug reports....73 Mike

Not a member of that group either ... Hopes he reads this forum also.
Just tested the same thing with a different scanner (BCD396XT) on a different PC and ... same problem.
Both times I used a PC running MS Vista

Any chance anyone knows of command line switches to make it launch only the Remote Control? I would love to just run that and not the whole program.
This looks great so far, pretty neat how it uploads in different sections.

I saw on another group (BCD996XT, to be exact) that Rob is trying to use his Yahoo group as a contact point for bug issues. Seeing as he's in the UK, I kinda doubt he's going to be here on any regular basis....

I really think it would be a great help to Rob if you could send any bug reports to him on his yahoo group, it only takes a minute to become a member and Rob would not have to go to several places to find the bug reports.

Actually, he's asked that bug reports be sent directly to him (see: bcTool), so that the Yahoo Groups list will not get clogged with bug reports. There are still bug reports sent via Yahoo, so it is still a good place to go to see if the bug has already been reported.

BC Tool & BCD996T
I tried programming my BCD996T.
Now my UHF P25 Beale AFB trunking does not work.
I tried other software using older codeplugs but the trunking does not open the
audio, I can read talk groups etc. Must admit that I did not pay much attention
to the settings, having no problems before.
I have tried reseting memory using 2,9 hold power on and then using older
profile from BC996pro from Butel, but nothing seems to fix the problem.
All other systems working OK, it is just the UHF P25 trunking from Beale AFB
that will not work anymore.
Any ideas?

Looks like there's some significant changes to the newest version;
- There will be free and professional (paid) versions. The professional version is supposed to be up in a couple of weeks
- There's a new support forum
- Most importantly it seems that the RR import function has been (will be?) moved to the professional version
Relevant links are here;

will it work with the UBC3300XLT ? I see it works for the UBS3500XLT and I am not familiar with that model, or is it possibly a typo.

If the 3300 is a DMA driven radio, it might - I'd ask on the BCTool support forum...
Welcome - bcTool Support
I have no idea what a UBS3500 is; both the wiki and website say UBC3500, which is the Euro version of the BR330T...
