You were correct, I just tried a Trunked system download, and it works fine, but freezes on the Conventional systems.

Is there a work around for this problem?

I kind of hope that Don is working on a new version of Win500,as it's been almost a year since he last updated it,maybe he will have windows 8 compatiblity and easier connection to the RR database.

I sure hope so.
I can use Windows 7, and it's fine.

I have had Windows 8 for about a month and just put Win500 on a few days ago. No firewall rules made. I can webimport both conventtional and trunked with no problem. I am using the Gre cable to my radio (PSR600 and 500) and had some problems with connecting, but got it straightened out and everything is working great now.

Yes The FTDI chipped cables work, others don't.
I have 2 cables 1 a Prolific Chip, and the other is a CP2102 Serial Cable, and neither will work for downloading on Windows 8, but work just fine on Windows 7.

The Only thing Not working with Win500 is the download side of it, everything else works.

Both cables work with ARC500, & IDTracker III.

I broke down, and ordered a Radio Shack cable today, I sure hope this fixes the problem I have.

Got 1 of my FTDI cables today, and still no luck with Win500 being ale to do a web import.
There has to be something I'm doing wrong.

I can use ARC500, and it works.

Default Problems Still Happening.

Alright, I was delivered my new RadioShack cable today.
I CAN download Trunked Systems, but I still have the same problem with conventional frequency downloads,
it just sits, and does nothing. I waited 10 minutes before having to use task manger to shut it down.

I don't want a half working program, that's not what I paid for.
I know I could go back to Windows 7, and it would be fine, but I shouldn't have to.

One thing that has been mentioned on the FreeScan forums (and I'm pretty sure elsewhere, I just can't put my finger on it right now) is that Win8 comes with Net 4.0 - which evidently gives software major headaches.

Folks that have reverted back one release to Net 3.5 seem to solve their issues. Just a thought...

That didn't help either, I even rebooted to make sure it took effect.
Any more ideas, other than going back to Windows 7?

I don't know if you've tried this or not, but Windows 8 has a compatibility option for software issues. Right click the program icon -> Properties -> Compatibility and 'Run this program in capability mode. I haven't had to use this myself yet, so I don't know, but it might be worth a shot..??

Default Problem Solved

It was my Antivirus program Avast causing it.
I disabled it, and I was able to connect.

I uninstalled Avast, and uninstalled Panda Cloud Free, because it locked the computer up, and now I'm back to the default anti virus that comes with Windows 8, and everything is great, and I Can connect.
