Default PSREdit500 software?

Another scanner buff told me I could download this software and it would help me get the frequencies I needed into my PSR 500. Can someone please tell me how it will work? Can I program multiple scanners with the same frequencies for the same $50. Thanks.

Doug

You can program any number of compatible scanners with the software once downloaded. It has a 30 day free trial for the software, after which the license is $35.

If you want to download the frequency information from the RadioReference.com database, that requires a premium subscription to this site which is separate from the purchase price of the software.

What is involved once I have gotten the software and RR premium service? I want to monitor my cities police and fire which just went to the P25 system. What are the basic steps with the software? Sorry for the broad question, but I just want to make sure it is going to be easy to do once I put the money down. BTW I have a GRE 500.

In PSREdit500, select the Import menu, then Import from RadioReference.com, then Trunked Data.

From there, you enter your RadioReference.com user name and password, then select your country, state/province, and finally your county. You would then be presented with a list of trunked systems associated with that county.

From there, you select the site(s) you would like to listen to (if it's a multi-site system) and the talkgroups on that system you would like to monitor and click import. You're then given the opportunity to add wildcards and adjust scan list memberships before the final import into the configuration.

At that point, you'd upload the configuration into the scanner and save it to disk in case you decide to modify it later (which you will probably want to do at some point as you get more familiar with it).

I highly recommend you purchase this software, so you can make changes to your programming after the 30 day trial has ran out. With just a little bit of time spent learning it, this software is very easy to use, and I can't imagine getting the full potential out of my PRO197 without it. Making changes, whether major or minor, to your programming, is a snap using PSREDIT500.
