Default 996XT and FreeScan Lockout problem

I've got a conventional system with 9 groups programmed into FreeScan. I have 6 of the 9 groups locked out in FreeScan when I upload to my 996XT.

But once uploaded, the 996XT is scanning all 9 groups - not locking out the six.

All 9 are GPS-enabled, but I'm not in GPS mode. Just scanning by Quick Key.

I'm not experiencing this problem with other conventional systems/groups in my database.

Anybody have an idea what might be going on?

Many thanks.

Is it the groups or sites you have locked out?? You may also have the same system uploaded more than once.

It's a conventional system, so there are no sites - just groups.

There are two ways to lockout a group.

1 - Assign it a GQK number and disable it.

2 - Go into the group menu and select "Set Lockout" and select "Lockout".

You probably have the GQKs enabled but the group(s) locked out.

So, some more clarification and a little testing.

All my systems are assigned to SQK', and subordinate groups are assigned to GQK's.

So, let say I got SQK #1 not locked out, and beneath that I have GQK's 1-5 open and GQK's 6-9 locked out.

When I upload to scanner, what is perplexing me is the GQK's 6-9 don't show an asterix on the scanner screen, as they would when you lock them out manual from the faceplate. A little further testing seems to indicate that 6-9 ARE indeed locked out - I just don't see the asterix as if I'd locked them out manually.

Is this normal? I would think when you've locked out a GQK in FreeScan, you'd see the asterix on the scanner screen after upload.

What am I missing or failing to understand?

Many thanks.

There is a fundamental difference between Locked Out and Quick Key Enable/Disable. I think you're confusing the two.

Locking out a System or Group prevents it from being scanned, regardless of what SQK/GQK's are enabled. If you lock a System/Group out, you will not see the asterisks, nor can you turn it back on simply by pressing that System/Group's QK.

Contrast that with not having Locked Out enabled, but enabling/disabling a System or Group via its QK. That is when you will see the asterisks for disabled QK's on Groups.

@ Chauffeur6,

Thanks. This seems like a pretty simple concept and not sure why my head isn't quite wrapped around it. Perhaps I'm just tired. Your explanation does square with my experience.

Many thanks.

This is where I was going but I guess I was too technical.

Default Groups un-selected, cannot select

Not sure if anyone has run into this?

I had a conventional System with three groups. I disabled all three groups using the Function/Group# from the keyboard. I could not re-enable the groups from the keypad (no asterisks showed on the display under Groups). I tried using the menu to unlock the groups, but both the system and each of the three groups were unlocked. I finally added a fourth group, and then the system scanned, showing group #4 unlocked, and asterisks for groups # 1-3. I then enabled groups 1-3 from the front panel, and deleted group #4.

Any thoughts on this?
