Default Best software for the 2052?

What is the best (resonably priced) software for the Pro-2052?
I want the software to be able to display text while scanning. I will have my Pro2052 set up several feet away from my PC so I want the PC control and have text. Does this software allow for that: http://www.pro2052.com/

Anyone used this http://www.qsl.net/kd5lmy/software1.htm ?

Logging would also be a good feature to have. Any suggestions?

I don't want to spend over $20 to $30 on the software.

Thanks for any info.

Your two reference links will not remotely display tags and the Pro2052.com software is pure junk IMO.
ScanControl at this site is by far superior to any software for all uses including displaying tags in remote ops. The price is 39.95 on CD or 34.95 D/L and well worth it. You can download a demo at
http://www.scannersoft.com/ which has the following statesmen on the download demo page:

A DEMO version of ScanControl is available for downloading free of charge. The DEMO version is a fully functional version of the software with a few limitations; In the Scanner Memory Management (SMM) area only the first three banks of the radio are enabled for data entry and programming. In the Scanner Control & Monitoring (SCM) area the Search / Scan Hit logging has been limited to 15 entries. This allows the user to sample all the features and functions of the software.

Edit: KenD, the software developer also has a Yahoo group
( http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ScanCo...guid=202988451 )and provides full courteous support.

I find that Radio Commander does not work well with my Pro-2052. I have gone through many cables to find a good download and it has not worked.

Huh??? Different cables and downloads?? That's wierd...
There's a link to the Scan Control website that talks about the different firmware that evidently started after a certain point on the 2052. It's under the Related Pages section in the PRO-2052 wiki page

It might help explain why one package works, and the other has problems.

Ken D. (the author of Scan Control) is frequently found on the Scan Control Yahoo group; and there are 2 groups devoted to the PRO-2052. All of those groups are on the wiki. No doubt between those resources, and some folks here, you can get straightened out.
