Freescan and icecomm1.01

Waiting on delivery of my BCD996XT next week and thought I get started with freeSCAN. Went to the website and they advice to download IceComm1.01:

These drivers seem to agree with FreeSCAN, Ice Comm, Prolific USB-Serial adaptors as well as Windows Vista & Windows 7. These are recommended if you are having problems with errors, either downloading or uploading. They will work with the Uniden USB-1 cable as well.

I am running windows 7-64bit, are these drivers advisable or should I only download them if I experience any errors as stated? Thanks in advance!

They are old drivers, but sometimes they will work as a last resort if you have a fake PL2303 adapter. If you are using the official USB1 cable than grab the official drivers.
