Default Win 96 Error

I just downloaded win 96 but can't get it to work. Everytime a click to open it, I get an error message that says "Cannot find import ;DLL may be missing, corrupt, or wrong version File Win XX Common dll error 1157." I've tried downloading it again, but that did not solve my problem. I've used Win 93 with no problems and don't know why I can't get Win 96 to work. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks!!

Do you have the file WinXXCommon.dll in the directory with Win96 or did you move Win96 to your desktop, if you have Win96 on your desktop it must be a shortcut not the program.

All parts of the individual Win9x programs must be in the same folder/sub-directory to work properly. This includes DLL, App, Help file, data, etc. I have never put two different Win9x programs in the same folder (like Win95 and Win96) so I am not certain if that works or not, but it certainly will lead to crowding.

Absolutely correct.

It works just fine. I have all of the WinXX programs in a single directory (and I know a little bit about them), and I have no problems.

Perhaps with data files, if you store them in the same directory as the program files themselves. I have P9x folders as subdirectories of my main Win9X directory, and store each radio's settings in its own, "private" location.

I have Win96 and PRO96COM in the same directory, but all data files are on a different drives, and works fine. My understanding is that Win96 must have the .dll file in the same Directory that Win96 is executed from, ie it's home directory.
