I'm trying to setup the software and i'm having a few issues. I'm using the BC796D

1) It is currently only showing Trunk Channel Tags and not Conventional
2) Only way I can get the software to send the tags to icecast is to have the unknown feature set to SC
3) when it does capture a tag and send it winamp is only showing ID S 008 when it should be showing Test because I have ID S 008928,TEST setup in the titles file.

Anyone tell me whats going wrong?

I had the exact same problems, and never was able to resolve them.

I went with different software.

I emailed David Hitchner, the author of IDtracker (which I use for logging/recording anyhow), and mentioned to him that if he could display the IDtracker alpha tags in the title bar of the app, Oddcast plug in could read it and feed it out as metadata to Shoutcast or Icecast servers. He says it will be included in the next version.

This would be a good thing.

One issues, it doesn't pick up conventional freqs.

Uh, your idtracker doesn't pick up conventional frequencies or your scanner doesn't? My idtracker displays conventional frequencies without problem when using it with my BC245, Pro-2052 and BC-785. See attached image.

Exactly it picks up the freqs but not the alpha tags which is the whole point of streaming the tags to the player is so they can see what they are listening too and now just the freq they are listening to.

the only tags Tracker picks up is the Bank labels.

I had problems with it also, found out that you dont use the freq,just use the name that your scanner shows for the freq

IDtacker does not read tags from the scanner, it enables you to enter long tags and comments/notes for all talkgroups and frequencies. Idtracker is mainly used for recording and identifying new/unknown talkgroups and frequencies.

You can use the oddcast dsp to stream the metadata that is displayed in the titlebar of idtracker to the shoutcast stream.

the 396 sends the tags on the scanner when it stops on a channel. 796D sends the freq or TG so it doesn't work the same.

The 796 uses the same command set as the 245, so use the 245 version of Metagenerator.

I'm beginning to get the idea, from this and other scanner model problems, that Uniden published the same protocol for a lot of scanners. but the actual protocol in the firmware is slightly different from model to "similar" model.

AL let me know if you need access to a system with a 796d running. Right now I have Simplecast and monitor.exe running but I would love to get rid of them both and use your software.

Here is a post I put up on the support forum for Oddcast, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to post it here too

I am having a blast with Oddcast feeding a police scaner to an icecast server.

Oddcast's ability to pick off metadata from another windows title bar is a great feature for telling my listeners what radio channel they are hearing. I would like to feed a second scanner off the same feed and here is what I need. I am running two instances of a program called ID Tracker that put up the frequency and station info for the scanner they
are monitoring. With only one running I can have Oddsock pick up the metadata off of that window and feed it. I need either a mod to Oddsock to pick up the titles off of two windows and combine them into one metadata entry, or a stand alone program to do the same thing and put its combined info onto its titlebar and let Oddcast pick up that data.

Here is an example:

Radio 1 (Left Channel) is receiving Phoenix Fire Channel 1 on 154.190 and the instance of ID Tracker has "154.190 - Phoenix FD Ch1" as its title bar.

Radio 2 (Right Channel) is receiving Pinal County Sheriff Ch1 on 158.760 and the instance of ID Tracker has "158.760 - Pinal SO Ch1" as its title bar.

The metadata entry I want to send to Oddcast would be "154.190 - Phoemix FD Ch1 <l-R> 158.760 - Pinal SO Ch1".

As with Oddcast the plugin or mod would need to watch both titlebars and change the title bar as the two instances of ID Tracker change. Only one instance of oddcast is needed. I have a stereo feed going into oddcast with the left audio from one scanner and the right audio from another one. It is no different that a mp3 file playing that has drums on the left channel and a guitar on the right channel. Only in this case the two seperate audio channels need seperate metadata info, but they need to be combined into one metadata tag and sent to the one instance of oddcast.

I know it seems like two seperate streams, but it is decidedly not. Radio scanner traffic is not a case where there is always audio comming out of each seperate radio and it is not hard to listen to more than one radio at the same time.

Any thoughts or suggestions?
