Question Moving 996 System file to 396?

Has anyone tried this to see if they are in the same format? I saved them from my 996 using 996 PRO and want to open them with ARC 396, any ideas?

Thanks

I've had no problems moving files between the 396 and 996, as long as they are not trunked systems. I'm guessing it's because the 996 is set up to do multi-site trunked systems and the 396 isn't. Conventional system files seem to work fine on either radio

Ooops - I just re-read your orignal post and I should qualify my comment - I am using the Uniden UASD software...

Gommert says that if you change the extension from m96 to mem, it should work. When I try, I get an error message telling me that the files are incompatible. I have not tried moving from mem to m96 yet.

Searay,
If what Gary has suggested does not work, it could always be done with the Uniden software:
If you don't have the BCD996T_UASD software loaded, download & install it.
Connect the scanner then select "Scanner view"
Select the "save" option. You should get an option to save the system files as currently loaded in the scanner once the software reads the scanner. (I know you do on the 396, 330, & 246 versions of UASD; don't have a 996 to try this). The files saved will be in the Uniden *.usd format.
ARC396 can import those, as long as you tell it which folder they are in.

Not the most elegant solution, but a possible work-around if renaming the files does not work. Maybe somebody else has a simpler idea?
