Default Trouble with Webservice

Just purchased the BC246T, which is my first scanner.

A friend gave me some *.usd files. I've yet to get any of them loaded.

Step one was to download the Uniden software. I can upload the scanner info to the computer. But I can't find a way to load the usd files to the scanner. At this point, I only have the demo of this software.

Can I upload the usd files to my scanner with the demo Uniden software? If so, how?

Step two was to download the Buten ARC246 software. I was able to manually add a system and add a frequency to monitor in one of the groups. However, I'd like to do a bulk import.

Step three was to join radioreference. Paid for a 90 day subscription to make it as easy as possible. I put my local county in my watch list. However, I am having trouble getting this data into my scanner. With the software, I get to the radiorefence webservice. Click on the connect. It connects, disconnects, and has a message on the bottom indicating it is retreiving http data.

Any suggestions on how radioreference is supposed to work or what I should be doing?

Welcome to the forum

You didn't mention your location, but these pictures may help for a typical trunking system.

First pic is the open ARC dialog
1. Click the Internet menu and select either Conv or Trunk which will produce the second picture with my state interop system.
2. Press the Create System button at the bottom right corner which will produce the next picture.
3. Click on BC246 menu and select RS232 com setup, which will produce the next picture.
4. Click on BC246 menu again and select Send Data.

Hope I got them lined up correctly

Frank,

Thanks for the reply. I don't think I'm getting past step 1.

I've tried both the Internet - Conv and Internet - Trunk options. Both bring up the second screen you showed, but I can't chose the state or any other options. I think I am having trouble just connecting.

I'm in St. Louis.

I'm doing this from work, so the firewall may be an issue. I'll try it at home this weekend.

John,

I purposely left out my my ID and password in the pictures, so you will need to use yours (those for radioreference). However, if you did, it's likely the system administrator at work causing the problem. We spent the night in St Charles on the 17th driving back east the next morning.

Frank,

I had both the id and password keyed in. And I logged off and back on the website to make sure they were valid.

I'll try from home this weekend. I suspect it will work there.

In the mean time, I've cut and pasted from the web pretty easy into the program.

John
