Default Online programming

I wonder if it is possible or if it exists. A site where you can get any or some radios programmed online. Just connect your scanner to your PC , get online , find the site , enter the necessary fields and get your scanner programmed while you wait.
Does this exist?

If not , it should.

It almost exists with the ARC/Win programs and RR.

It's been done. Uniden provided a download service in the late 90's (with radios like the BC245XLT). For a small fee, it used your zip code to determine what data to download to the radio. Data accuracy wasn't nearly as good as the RR DB (and understandably so considering how much effort goes into it) so customer response was mixed.

Today you have much more choices. Pick your favorite radio and software - chances are it supports the RR DB download. Ease-of-use will depend upon your choice of software and how much control you as the user wish to have.
