Default New To the Hobby

Just purchased a BC 780XLT and was wondering what software you recommend using with a PC?

I ordered a DB9 cable of off eBay. It hasn't arrived yet, just trying to get my ducks in a row.

Thanks,
Mike

ARC780 and Trunkstar 780 are both excellent programs for the 780.

Don't forget Scan Control, which also works with the 780. Enjoy your new toy....73s Mike

Im having some communication problems between my 780XLT and the PC.

I believe I have everything on the scanner side setup correctly. My PC has a DB9 serial port on the back but, it doesnt show up in the "Device Manager" list. Under Ports (COM & LPT) i have a Communications Port COM1 and a Printer Port LPT1.

Can anyone assist me in getting windows to recognize the DB9 serial port?

Ive downloaded a trial version of ARC 780 to play with but, there is no communication between the scanner and PC.

Thanks,
Mike

Wouldn't the serial port on the back be "COM1" in the Device Manager list?
