If you know how to log into your router
go to the Advanced Tab: Port Range Forwarding (page 37 in the pdf)

you will need to know the ip address of your machine , it will be like 192.168.1.100 or close to that
Not your internet ip address
you will also need to know what port the software is set to...

this is an example
If the software is wanting to use port 6776
and your computers ip address is 192.168.1.102
You would go to the port forwarding tab

under ext port where it says 0 to 0 you would put 6776 in both boxes because
you only want to open the one port
(if you wanted to open up ports 6776 thru 6779 then you would put 6776 in the first box and 6779 in the second)

Then check the tcp box

Then fill in the last box with the ip of your machine

192.168.1.xxx the xxx is the last three of your computers ip address
Then check the enable box
Hit apply and your done

That does work however when i restart my router or the pc my ip address sometimes changes and then i have to go back into the router and re-set the ip address to whatever my pc's address has changed to any way to fix this?

Assign yourself a static IP.

1. Right click on My Network Places and go to Properties to open window

2. Now right click on Local Area Connection and go to Properties.

3. Scroll down and double click Internet Protocol TCP/IP entry to open the IP address properties

4. For IP use 192.168.1.100 (or # you want), subnet put 255.255.255.0 and gateway is the IP of your Linksys, usually 192.168.1.1

5. For DNS I use OpenDNS (208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220) but you can put your ISP's if wanted.

Hit OK on everything and you are done.

Another way is to use static DHCP assigned by MAC address if your router supports it. I use a modified Linksys WRT54G firmware (DD-WRT). It kicks butt!

Good luck.
