Default ARC396pro possible issues??

So I was using the ARC396 pro demo and liked it so I purchased the full version. Entered the registrations keys and sent and read data. I unhooked the scanner from the usb line and tried scanning and noticed two things:

When you turn on the scanner, before the welcome messages comes in, there are now 4 hashes going vertically down the right side; and

before every button used to beep wehn you entered a freq, changed volume, etc (and on a cetain level that was annoying), but after I turned it on, all those buttons are noiceless.

Are things things an indication that something is wrong or should I not worry about them? Did something interact wierd or did I unknowingly change some settings? Any help would be appreciated.
