Default New ARC-2052 software feedback

We recently did a Radioshack software survey and it showed that many PRO-2052 owners are not happy with the current software offerings for the popular PRO-2052 so we have started development of the ARC-2052 programming software, this will be dedicated software for the PRO-2052 only.

So we need more detailed feedback to make ARC-2052 the best programming software for the PRO-2052.

So if you have any suggestions/feedback please send us an email of what you like to see in dedicated software for the PRO-2052. Also tell us your likes/dislike of current software offerings.

Unlike other software companies our software comes with free lifetime updates, and price will be around US$ 29.95 .

Default Can't Wait

Finally some decent software for the 2052 is coming. I can't wait. I sent an email about some of the features I would like to see.

I think it would be a good and somewhat profitable move on your part because there are a lot of 2052's out there; and most people don't realize how good they perform even though its pretty old.

Of course my number one request would be the ability to import data from RadioReference!

Second would be detailed, and configurable logging.

Third would be audio recording with related data in the resulting file name.

In other words, keep doing what you're doing. All your software rocks!

Thanks!

I just bought their last 2052 from a nearby radio shack for 30 bucks--for that price how could I pass it up (As long as my wife doesn't realize I have 3 of them now)

Gommert,

I too would look favorably on you guys doing this; however, remember there are actually two versions of that radio and they program differently, so please take that into account. I think that Frank (fmon) probably would be able you supply you with lots of information in that regard.

And while I wouldn't normally point to a competitor in a specific manufacturer thread, this page has a good summary of the differences...

However this part of the ScanControl link isn't correct.
From ScanControl link:"The reason this is important is the newer firmware, the grapevine says newer being later than the 04A03 date, has newer features such as scanning multiple trunked banks simultaneously"
Using the keyboard, the old firmware will scan up to 20 trunked banks or up to 20 conv banks simultaneously. The newer will scan up to 20 banks either with mixed modes in bank(s) or as trunked and/or conv banks simultaneously. Both scanners provide for "Skipping a Trunked Bank" during multi bank scan. In addition, there is two other softwares (in remote mode) that will allow the old version to scan up to 20 banks in trunked and conv simultaneously.

This part is true for new firmware.
From ScanControl link: "and scanning trunked and conventional channels in the same bank."

From ScanControl link: "There may even be more 'goodies' in the newer firmware than these."
I have not found any to date.

ScanControl is by far the best software for programming this scanner and Ken is currently working on improving the programming procedures with windows based copy/paste. A properly structured csv file works great, but copy/paste will be great, though Web Import is much better.

BTW Lou, thanks for the nice comment

Thanks to all for replying, please keep sending your suggestions.

I never expected the 2052 to be (still) so popular but the survey we did some time ago showed some very interesting facts.

I am aware of the different firmware, I am still looking for a 2052 with old firmware so if anyone has a spare 2052 with old firmware collecting dust and needs a few dollars just PM/email me.
