Yes it's true! Actually, it's really not that crazy but I figured I'd tell everyone how I do it, just in case they hadn't already thought of it.

All you have to do is have a dedicated PC running ARC Easy stream server at home. I then use my laptop and Remote Desktop (built into Windows), and Uniden's UASD (running on the desktop at home).

Where ever I am in the world, as long as I have an internet connection I can remote to my computer at home, set the scanner to whatever I want to receive, open up easy stream client and I'm off and running.

Use Ventrilo and run it as a server on your PC to stream the audio.

All you need to do is open up a port on your server PC for remote desktop and ventrilo, then you just need to run ventrilo client on your laptop.

No need to buy Easystream, save yourself some money

Good point, but I was already running easysteam server anyways for my public feed.

Next month the author is releasing the full remote controlled scanner-over-IP. Right now you can do it but requires VNC connection to host machine.
