Another newbie question - BR330T Quick Keys

Hi all! I hope I am posting this question in the right forum...

I'm hopeful that one of you could answer a question that I have about how to use the Quick Keys on the BR330T. I have used the ARC 330 software to program the frequencies (systems and groups) into my scanner.

I have assigned Quick Keys to a couple of systems (no Quick Keys assigned to "groups"), so that while I'm in a scanning mode, if I want to listen to my county's FD calls, I would press a Quick Key and just listen to that system's frequencies. My question is: how do I enable a Quick Key, when scanning, to just listen to a specific system? I know I can lock out the other systems, but with multiple systems entered, I'm hoping that the functionality of the Quick Keys offers me the ability to listen to one system, quickly.

Here's why I'm asking: I work in Manhattan, around the corner from where the steam pipe explosion occured. I have FDNY's frequencies set-up in System 3. In order to just listen to the FDNY's system, I had to manually lock out all the other systems, which was time consuming and frustrating, under the circumstances...

When I called Uniden to try to obtain an answer about Quick Key usage, they referred me to the User's Manual and indicated they couldn't help me because I programmed the scanner using the ARC software, which they didn't support. Is there something about the software that is not allowing for the proper functionality of the Quick Keys? Uniden wasn't too forthcoming about there reason for their polite brush-off...

I'm an old school, conventional scanner user. Although I really like the capacity and versatility of the BR330T, I occasionally find it a bit challenging to use. I'm hoping that someone pens "BR330T for Dummies", soon, as I find that the BR330T User's Manual leaves me with a bunch of questions. But then again, I'm new at this.

Any help/suggestion about Quick Key functionality would be appreciated, to include suggestions as to where I might have gone wrong with the programming of the Quick Keys.

SQK's toggle the systems assigned to them on and off. If multiple SQK's are enabled and you want to hear only one, you have to turn each of the others off one by one.

I should add (though it does you no good) that on the BCT15 and BCD996T you could assign the one system you frequently want to single out to its own Start-Up Key and all the others to a different key. You can then quickly lock out all the others by cycling power while holding down the desired key.

I think your problem stems from not assigning those other systems to some quick key. Any "unassigned" system stays on all the time (unless you lock it out). Consider this, assign all those odd systems to one SQK, that way you can toggle them all on or off at one time as you choose (not needing to lock them out).

I think I've managed to assign all of my systems to a SQK, so no unassigned systems to worry about. But along your line of thinking, I may be able to reduce the number of systems I have programmed by reprogamming more groups into a common system... Thanks for the suggestion, Lou!
