Win96 RR Import Problems
I am having a heck of a time trying to get Win96 to import files from the Database tonight. I have read past posts. I keep getting an error msg "404". The Win96 is Version 01.50 and the url appears to be "http://www.radioreference.com/apps/xml1.1. Any suggestions would be greatly appriciated.

1.50 should work unless he intends to program VA STARS extended tables with step 2.50 kHz which only 1.53 can do.

Error 404 is on the computer end, website cannot connect to server. Might want to check the settings in your machine. Hoser147

Without using any software (other than you browser) try linking to the following:
http://www.radioreference.com/apps/xml1.1/?sl=1
After providing your UserID and Password (for the RR Website) you should be presented with an XML document listing all of the US States. Let us know what you get.

I tried the link that loumaag provided and indeed did get the list of all of the US States. BTW I was able to download the system that I wanted and did import it into Win96 on my laptop without problem. I do have Win96 v1.53 on the desktop that I am using now, but still a no go on importing on this desltop. Thanks for the suggestions.

Jessie,
I'm wondering if your firewall/virus program failed to give or ask for permission for you to access the web with Win96?

Well, creating special exception in the Symantic Software for the Radioreference site fixed the problem! It goes to show that you can teach a very old dog new tricks. My sincere thanks go out to all who have helped me to solve the problem.

Why a time out?
I have a new Pro 2096 and trying Win96. When I go to down load frequencies from the scanner, I keep getting an error message: "Time out waiting for header information". I am doing something wrong? Thanks

Likely you don't have the serial port matched in Win96.
If you are using the USB programming cable (20-047 RS or 30-3290 GRE) go to Device Manager>expand + next to Ports (COM & LPT) and note which port is assigned for USB Serial Port. Match it in Win96 Configuration Menu>Serial Port.
If using a serial cable, note available comports in the above check and try each.
Edit: Insure you are using the upper jack (PC/IF} instead of earphone jack.

One thing that I forgot to mention, I also re-typed in my username/password when I opened the Pro96.com software prior to clicking "Import". I don't know if that was part of problem, but I got that same message after I created an exception on the security software. The username was showing with a blue highlight on it, so I just re-typed over it and entered RR pasword and it worked perfectly. I didn't pick up on that until I read the previous posts over and over.
