Angry newbie needs help

i have been using a Pro 508 for many years. Indiana went digital. not knowing what i was doing i jumped in and purchased a uniden BCD996T and scancat-lite plus. I am very technologically challenged, so I would like to know if there are any data bases where I can enter State/County/City/Dept. and download to scancat-lite plus to program my scanner???? Or maybe someone else living in Dearborn County Indiana has a 996 already programmed and would consider cloning. Had another problem with serial port but found solution in the uniden forum. HELP!!! ANYONE???

First dump Scancat and get the Butel ARC996 and use the database download feature built into the software. http://www.butel.nl/bc996/bcd996.html

The Pro version (if it is like the 396) will also auto log and record transmissions. May be worth the extra $$ if you're into that.

Horsey,

I won't beat a dead horse, but as others have pointed out to you, Butel's ARC996 trumps ScanCat.

Once you have the Uniden 996 programmed up, you'll find it's a very versatile scanner which performs quite well! While I don't own one personally, I DID have the leisure of borrowing a buddies 996 and playing with it for a couple weeks while he went on vacation.
