Default Scanstar Spectrum Commander IX with Pro-2096

Anyone here use the this software with the Pro-2096 or 96? If so I have a few configuration questions if you don't mind. Please respond by email or post here and I'll email you. I would post my question here but I think it's better suited for email.

Thanks

You know I know next to no one that uses that software with the 96. Win96 is the software of choice. It also has the ability to download data from the RRDB. See the link for more info

Thanks for the info ka3jjz. Besides just downloading and uploading data, I'm also looking for a software that will control the radio. I use Spectrum Commander to control my Pro-2035, scanning using the software. I'm hoping to use the same type on the P2096. Will Win96 do that?

The PRO-96/2096 is not "computer controllable".

RS dropped the ball and made it so it's only programmable, not controlable It's too bad, it is a really great scanner otherwise.

Keep in mind that GRE was the manufacturer of the radio, not RS. I have heard rumors- probably somewhat true - that there were some copyright or patent issues with using similar protocols with Uniden. If so, it's a pretty good reason why GRE had to develop different protocols - and in this case, as it is with all of the RS/GRE scanners, kept it relatively simple in function.

Perhaps now with the new GRE scanners, that copyright or patent issue has either expired or been somehow resolved since I see on some Win500 screen shots that it appears there is some sort of control interface now.

Yes in fact the new GRE PSR-500 comes with control software.
