ScanControl 6.1.0 Upgrade Problem

I have upgraded to the latest version of ScanControl from version 6.0. I now get an error that reads "Incorrect License Key! DEMO Mode Invoked!". I have contacted the folks at ScanControl and they advised to uninstall and then reinstall the software. Well after 4 or 5 attempts of doing that the message remains the same after each reinstall.

I have manually deleted the directory and it still loads in Demo mode.

Has anyone else had this problem? Know of any easy fix? Any help would be appreciated!

No problems with the upgrade for me. I downloaded the program from the link he sent me, removed the old version, installed the new and began checking out whats new. Now that I think about it, I don't believe that I have ever had to enter a key.

Same here. There does seem to be a problem with the Data Grabber - it doesn't seem to like any other browser besides IE. There has been extensive comments about this on the Yahoo group and Ken is working on a fix.

Get with Ken on the Yahoo group - it sounds like your key got corrupted somehow.

A file called Scanctrl.lic holds your key. During uninstall it remains in the ScanControl folder and is defined during installation of the upgrade. Should one delete the file after "uninstall" the new installation has no reference to the "key".

If in fact you did delete after uninstall then uninstall latest upgrade, open Recycle and restore the Scanctrl.lic file, then redo the new installation using the link in your email.

If you did not remove the file (or folder) then as Mike suggested, the file is likely corrupt. Copy and send it to Ken for review.

Well after uninstalling it several times, then manually deleting the remaining files and directories, deleting all entries in the registry (yikes) and then reinstalling it about 4 more times... it finally took and didn't give me the dreaded demo version!

Now to find out why it won't load the info from the BC796D...
