396T Software Question

An elderly friend of mine is getting a 396T for Christmas. She loves to listen but her tech ability is very limited and she asked me to program her new scanner. I told her no problem!
Suddenly 3 of her friends are getting them also and I'm just waiting to be asked to program them also.
I used the software I downloaded from Uniden to program my 396T and had no problems.
So...the big question.....can I just plug a new scanner into my computer and program it with the frequencys I already have set up for my scanner in the Uniden software or do you think the software will not recognize a new scanner and I'm back to square one?

Should be no sweat at all - I don't know of any scanner programming software that would ask for some sort of registration for the radio. Registration for the software, yes, but not the radio. If you get good at it, you could make some pocket change out of it....

i program scanners all the time with my info. it works just fine

You will be able to use the software, with the exact same setup as yours with as many bcd396's as you want to program. Just connect that scanner, and load the file into the software and upload to connected scanner.

When you program the scanners for them, don't forget to make their day.
In the configuration file, before you upload on each one, put their name so that it will show on the initial splash screen when the scanner is turned on. (I'd ask them if they also wanted ph# or address; mine has phone & 'reward if found'.)

In Uniden's UASD software, open up the Configuration editor & select your file.
Select the "Miscellaneous" tab.
You'll see opening screen on the right upper quadrant.

In ARC396:
View
Change to Configuration Editor
Select the General Settings tab
The "Opening Screen" is left upper quadrant.

Just take out the existing text & replace it with your own choice.

I have a question trying to change the opening screen. I am at the miscellaneous settings for the scanner and I try to click to change the opening screen but I cant. What do I need to do in order to enter it and change it?
