A1: No, it is not for conventional frequencies - purely trunked systems
A2: That depends on what you mean
Unitrunker can control your scanner - in fact you can have two scanners in use, one with a discriminator tap or data that feeds control channel info in, and then another scanner that Unitrunker can control (it has to be one that it supports) which it will tune to the appropriate voice frequency.
If you have just one scanner/reciever, then you can set your scanner up so that it switches to the audio channel and plays the audio when a talkgroup is active, but during that time Unitrunker won't be listening to the control channel and will not update its display with that information. When the talk group is no longer active and the scanner switches back to the control channel for listening, Unitrunker's display will update with current data again.
Unitrunker is not meant to be a 'control program' for your scanner per se. It is meant to analyze trunking data and present it in a meaningful way so that you can know more about the trunked system and its users.
