I just got a Scantenna and not sure what to do with it. I will eventually place it on the roof, but right now this is not possible.

I was thinking of placing it on a mast that would be imbedded in a 5 gallon bucket of cement placed on my balcony.

Do you think the bucket will hold the scantenna in place under moderate winds?

Perhaps under light winds it would hold.

If you can not tie it off as k9rzz suggests, look into some plywood to give the base some width.

Thanks for the replies.

The plywood is a good idea. I am thinking of going up with a 10 foot mast. There is a 4 foot wall on three sides of the balcony, so only 6 feet will be exposed to the wind, so to speak.

Really excited about this, since reception where I am is extremely poor on my local 800 system.

Thanks again

If you affix it at the 4 foot point, I do not see any issues.

It won't hold it freestanding in more than a breeze, though.
