So I was wondering

What Picks up interferance

the antenna? the radio? or both?

also, what are primary causes (of in the home)

that causes Poor signal/interferance to a scanner?

Yes, yes, and yes.
Your tv, computer another radio, fridge, freezer, etc. All can cause interference. Plus a few other ELECTRICAL appliances. What can you do? Relocate, relocate, relocate. Also try different antennas. There's more and others will explain. Hope that helps you some what.
