Default Mobile Amateur Radio Antenna for 2m/440/800 mHz?

I am looking for a good mobile antenna that will work on a Motorola mount that I can use to transmit on both 2 meters and 70 cm, as well as use for monitoring on 800 mHz. Does anybody have any good recommendations?

The Larsen tri-band is exactly what you are asking for.

Default Nmo150/450/800

It looks like it is NMO150/450/800. Time to look for reviews. Thank you!

I agree with DDan - I've used the Larsen 150/450/800NMO for several years and haven't found a better antenna. My only wish is that I could find it with a spring model so I can get in my garage without tearing it off my roof.

Check this thread which talks about adding a spring to the antenna --> http://www.radioreference.com/forums...-question.html

The Larsen tri-band is probably okay for 2m and 70cm but it isn't really designed for those frequencies.

Using an antenna analyzer I've swept mine before and it's resonant frequency (on VHF at least) was around 151 MHz with the SWR skyrocketing quickly as you approach the upper end of the 2m band.

Something to consider.

Attached is Larsen's engineering data for this antenna. Note the SWR plot on the last page.

I've been looking for the same solution, best single antenna for 2M/440 and 800. I wonder if the NMO 150 450 800 is adjustable at all (like many diamonds out there) If so couldn't you theoretically alter the center frequencies closer to the ham band?
