If you could get away with a magnet mount... the Larson tri-band would be a good choice, otherwise the Diamond RH 77 would be a good option

i'll try to find a larsen as well to try out...

im about 35 km from town...i get the other control channel at 99% but theres is not much there its on a lonely strech of highway

Assuming you mean 140.245MHz a 1/4 wave 2M ham mag mount stuck on top of the cab should suffice being it has sufficient receive bandwidth to cover that frequency. It has two advantages, it's small and unobtrusive and a larger gain antenna has a much narrower bandwidth so when you consider gain vs. loss the gain antenna will buy you no advantage. For this single band application a multi band antenna is pointless and besides, they're considerably more stand out like a sore thumb boss's eye catching monstrosities.

The Diamond (RH-77CA for a BNC mount) previously mentioned will work well on that freq. and is black: pretty stealth. It's under 18 inches.

I've got mine on a mag mount that I use when I'm just sitting at my desk, using my Pro-97 for airband and it's great.

I've got this mount: WR AX-91M Magnetic Antenna Base
