Anyway a small active loop is a good choice, since it can be used to help negate some of the noise issues you will experience with the plain wire antenna. That is, if there's a simple way to connect it to the 1102 (I think it does have an external antenna jack). You don't want to put anything real big on a small portable as it will likely overload it 73 Mike

Get some wire and an alligator clip, and clip the wire to the antenna, or find one of the commercially made reel-up units . Anything else will probably overload it. If you want active, find one of the Radio Shack/Realistic 20-280 amplified SW antennas. They don't work as well as the Sony active antennas, but for the price, they aren't bad.
