Scantenna = Rubber Ducky???

Ok, I got my brandy new scantenna in the mail today. Went to radio shack and purchased a $40 catv powered amp. Mounted the scantenna in the attic, ran the wires, etc. Plugged it in, and it seems I get better reception with my stock rubber duckie. WTF?

Am I missing something?

Try without the amp, it's probably killing reception.

Unless you're in a really rural area, amplifiers can do more harm than good, especially the higher gain ones.

Suprising, everyone recomended that to me....go figure. Definitley 110% better WITHOUT the amp, just as you said!

It might have also been a connection on the amp somewhere.
