Long and short and sorry for quickness of question.
Drop amp (25db) scanntenna in attic. When searching i get a lot of interference (tv mostly) and sometimes when i am scanning nothing (no systems Selected) i still pick up some interference. i have tried the ATT setting (Sorry don't know how to spell word) and i have also tried the FM trap on the amp.
The reason for the amp is to pull in Distant 800Mhz signals. That said when litening to that 800MHz system it comes in GREAT.
Would love to "Search" for unknown freq. But the interference is sometime unbarable. Not sure what to try next.

Respectfully

25Db is a HECK of a lot of gain. Are you urban or rural ?

You're basically amplifying all of the noise and crud that's closer to you on the
lower frequencies like pagers and TV audio.

Any way to have a dedicated 800-only scanner, and put the amp on that, along with an 800mhz specific antenna ?

You're definitely overloading the front end with that much gain. Especially with a wide-band antenna and a scanner who's front end is wide band to begin with.

Try switching out the amp for your searches.
