Can anyone explain the quality sound difference between a full wave antenna and a half wave? It will be used in a receive only mode to monitor a part of the two meter band at a fixed land position.

A wavelength @ 2 meters is around 80 inches------
what are you trying to achieve?
are the stations you want to monitor all in the same direction (yagi vs omni vs dipole)
How far away is/are the stations???
more info equals more help :)

Once the receiver has enough signal to overcome the background noise, there is no difference in sound quality.

A half wave antenna is generally easier to set up than a full wave antenna.

If you need more gain than a half wave, there are better choices than the full wave.
