I have a coil and 2 whips i don't know what brand and model they are. the coil in the 4th picture i need info on. I believe the coil is 450mhz. the first photo is a 450mhz antenna.

The 2nd photo i belive is a 150mhz or a dualband with 450mhz. On VHF my scanner gets overloaded and desenses and won't get the weather channel. but with my 2 meter ht it receives really well on the WX band so i believe it's high gain. but on my scanner it also receives UHF as well as my VHF 1/4 wave. So is it dual band?

the black base in the second picture is for a 1/4 wave from Antennas Direct http://cgi.ebay.com/VHF-1-4-WAVE-NM...ihZ019QQcategoryZ4672QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem

Its useful for changing whips.

the low profile NMO mount is http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MfcISAPICommand=ViewItem&item=290168966179

The all plastic coil is an Antenna Specialists UHF colinear and the coil with metal ends is a Larsen UHF colinear.

now are those antennas supposed to have a coiled base as well or just a standard base?
That coiled base with red on top came from a different UHF antenna that was broke. I tried these antennas on it and the standard base from my other antenna and didn't notice the difference in receiving.

I asked this question and wasn't answered.

No, they usually have a regular base.
the coiled base with the red top had a broken whip that was broke at the coil and i was told was UHF. So i wonder coiled whip on coiled base. Was there any VHF center loaded whip designs?

Say what....sorry.... I don't follow you.
the coiled base in the photos with the red top came with a broken antenna that was broke at the center coil on the antenna. So does some UHF antennas have center and base loaded coils?

Does some VHF antennas have coils in the middle too?

If a UHF only antenna has a coil in the center and its at least 12" tall it will be a collinear gain type with the coil providing a delay or phase shift to put the upper and lower elements in phase. They will also have a small matching coil at the base. Both of your whips with a coil in the middle came from this type antenna. Lots of VHF 2m ham antennas have coils in the middle of the whip but I can't think of a commercial VHF whip with a coil in the middle, maybe someone else has seen this. Anything longer than a 16" to 19" 1/4 wave VHF whip will usually have a matching coil at the base.
If you swapped coils and whips around, you probably don't have an optimum antenna any more, its just a random piece of metal sticking out of your car. If it picks up what you want and looks cool then I suppose nothing is lost.

the antenna specialist one i had to grind down the end of the whip in order to fit the standard base i have. i don't know what base coil goes for it as it was given to me without one. and the Larsen whip doesn't have one either. the grey one with the red on top i don't know what brand it is. So i'm not sure on a solution for these creatures. since they're mostly for receiving so far I'm not sure if it's critical.
