can you use 2 scanners on ONE antenna, with just a T connector?

or do you need some kinda..... radio shack toy to do that?

You CAN, but it's not really desirable.

It creates all sorts of out-of-phase problems.

At the minimum use a quality TV coax splitter with isolation.

Better is to use a distribution amplifier.

YMMV

Do a forum search.

There have been DOZENS of threads on this subject.

I am using a discone antenna into a cable TV splitter that handles 5-1000 MHz. I do not recomend an amplified splitter if you are in an urban area or near a strong RF source and only driving 2 scanners. If you were splitting to 4 scanners, that would be over 7 dB loss and perhaps makes the amp needed. Unless you are on the fringe of signals now, you won't notice 3 dB loss from splitting to 2 scanners. To answer your original question, a T connector is NOT the way to go.
