I've got one of those $25 Radio Shack discones. Does anyone know if it can be used with a CB?

I can't find anything about it on the RS website. Works great with my scanner, but thinking about getting into my old hobby of 30 years ago with CB.

Thanks.

If you transmit, you will most likely burn out the CB. CB is roughly 27MHz, way below the band your antenna was designed for. It won't match/load properly. I would not even try it.

Interesting question. Like others say, you'll have to xmit through an SWR meter to be sure. Discone (or in this case, maybe "discone") antennas are easy on VSWR, however, even with a good match the radiation pattern probably won't be very good.

swr will be through the roof

discone is a 75 ohm antenna anyways, 1.5:1 best match possible without special considerations
