Balcony Mount Antenna.. looking for advise.

I am planning in adding an external antenna for my scanners and I live in a 3 story home and don't really want to mount on the roof. I'd like to use the balcony.

I need something good and not too big like a Discone where it will make us not use that balcony anymore cause the antenna is hanging downwards..

Need something that kicks mayor rear @ 144-170 and 400-512Mhz.

If anyone has a balcony mount antenna, and care to share some pics.. that would be super nice.

Looking for some good advice on which antenna will be the best choice. Remember, I do not want something HUGE like a Discone.

Why not try and get a good mobile antenna, like the Larsen 150/450/800. Its tiny and a high performer. Attach it to a NMO mag mount and stick it on something metal that's on the balcony. You'll barely notice it.

Hey hoser.. yes, metal rail in the whole front of balcony, about 4ft high aprox.
